I currently have space for clients who require psychodynamic counselling, and I undertake this service on a voluntary basis, for six or twelve one hour weekly sessions. I’m based in west and south Glasgow, and I work in supervision with the Garnethill Centre where I am taking the Postgraduate Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling. I already have their PD Cert. Counselling Skills and the centre’s insurance and affirmation of fitness to practice.
This kind of work may be appropriate for adults experiencing changes or transitions which are difficult to manage, such as relationship breakdown or other life changes, and who need a level of emotional support and understanding.
Psychodynamics looks for the past in the present, and seeks to provide a secure base within which you can grow in self-awareness and in emotional intelligence. It was formulated principally by John Bowlby (Attachment Theory).
